Here is a video of Alijah playing in the children’s area at the Pacific Science Center. Gotta love the baby smock. It was a nice area for toddlers to play and learn, and Alijah was having a great time.

So, one night I came home with some dinner - a fish burrito and some chips from Taco Del Mar. Now, I know that this meal is a tasty treat, and apparently Alijah agreed. He helped himself to a large helping of the chips that came with my meal. Take a look.

Very cool - over the past 24 hours I have been interviewed by Kim Peterson of the Seattle Times and John Cook of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The subject matter at hand on the Times story was about how my company, Gear Live Media, came to be as well as the upcoming Seattle Mind Camp event that we are doing next weekend (I can’t believe it’s so close!) On the P-I front, we talked a bit about Gear Live Media, but mostly focused the conversation on Mind Camp. Afterwards, a P-I photographer came by and snapped a bunch of images of my and my laptop in an almost-make out session.

I will have links to both articles, as they are appearing both in print and online - the Times article hits the front page of the business section this Monday!

This is cute - Alijah has been learning to feed himself, as you can see in the video above. Here, he is eating oatmeal, and stops to give himself a round of applause, or perform some other actions to show how proud he is of himself.

I am very excited to see Seattle Mind Camp, the conference I am organizing, getting some attention across these here internets. A few people have been helping me out with the brunt of the planning, and it seems to be paying off. A bunch of people have been blogging about the event, which is doing just great at spreading the word. In fact, we only have about 25 spots left! Here are a few places you can read about the event from a point of view other than my own:

Okay guys, if you are ready for a truly powerful search tool, you must check out Gada.Be. Chris put this together with the help of a couple of developers, and I have been playing with it for about a month. I will let him tell you all about it, but for now, know that you can subscribe to search results on the fly, and access the service extremely easily from any mobile device with a keypad - that rocks.

Thumbs up to Brian Alvey and Jason Calacanis. Why tons of people are saying that the Weblogs, Inc. sites will now be going down the tubes is beyond me. I am sure that AOL execs aren’t going to be sitting down and editing the hundreds of blog posts that are produced by WIN each day. The primary goal of any for-profit business is to make money, and the goal of the entrepreneur is to make money. These guys built up WIN to the point where it became valuable to a major corporation. Kudos - blogging is going mainstream.

Ringling Bros

So a week or so ago we took Alijah and Tommy to catch the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus (what’s up with that name?) in Everett. Alijah enjoyed the music and the excitement that others were showing, but he rarely looked down at “the action” for more than a minute or two. Of course, we captured a few images of the experience. It’s enjoyable to see Alijah’s interest level in different things grow - just a few months ago we brought him to a Mariner’s game and he had the time of his life, despite not paying attention to the game at all.

Google Blog SearchOkay guys, this one is big. Google has (finally) put up a Blog Search tool. Don’t be fooled by the term “Beta”, as Google News is a widely used resource that has been in Beta since its inception. That being said, there are a few things that Google needs to work out in its blog search. One example I found is that when I search for Gear Live, the link at the top looks like it will lead to gearlive.com - however, you end up at playfeed.com when you click it. Huh??? Nonetheless, is it game over for all other blog search services?

I just did a search within Google Blog Search for the term “google blog search” and found over 190,000 results. That means two things - a) Google Blog Search is quickly indexing blog content, and b) many, many people are excited about this. Just take a look:

Why shouldn’t they be? This thing is tons faster than Technorati, and they even allow you to subscribe to queries by way of RSS. Smart, smart move.

Thank you, Techcrunch, for putting together a list of the top things entities can do to get blogged. You don’t know how many times a PR company sends me a press release two or three times because we don’t post their information within the first 15 minutes of receiving it. Here is one of their better tips:

Don’t be a Jerk.
If someone just won’t write about you, move on to another blogger. Don’t heckle them. If someone does write about you and you don’t like what they say, deal with it by sending an email or leaving a clarifying comment. Don’t attack. Other bloggers will see it and avoid you like the plague.

It’s hard to determine tone in a written blurb. Bloggers easily take offense. Think twice before you post something that can be taken the wrong way, and be very quick to apologize if you screw up. Don’t try to explain yourself - just apologize. If you are going to say something nasty or controversial, do it via email, not in a public comment.

So true.
